Distinguished and Famous people from Lakes Entrance
📚 Dr Megan Burslem
Violist, educator and broadcaster Megan Burslem grew up in Lakes Entrance and began developing her musical interests through the local public school program. She has described that experience as one of the doors that made classical music accessible to her, alongside listening to the ABC. Further study took her through performance, teaching and doctoral research in musicology and ethnomusicology. Her broadcasting brings that background to audiences who may not arrive with specialist musical knowledge. A regional school music program helped start a career devoted in part to making music welcoming to others.
📚 Lauren Arnell
Lauren Arnell spent her later teenage years in Lakes Entrance after growing up on a farm at Clarkefield. A physical education teacher as well as a footballer, she went on to play in the AFLW and became Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW coach in 2022. A Coaches Association profile linked her approach to the people skills she developed as one of triplets and through teaching. Lakes Entrance was one stage in that upbringing, while the later career crossed several states. Her work connects local sporting experience with the developing professional opportunities for women in football and coaching.
